Use one entry point for monthly and annual close

Monthly profit and loss close and annual profit close share one entry point. Select the period and create the voucher from the account's actual current balance; the two actions still serve different accounting purposes.

Calculate the remaining amount when you run close again

If part of the amount has already been transferred, the system calculates the remaining balance. No new close voucher is created when nothing remains, and later adjustments use the same entry point to process the actual difference.

Review each close voucher in the accounting records

The voucher service writes the close to the accounting records. After posting, review the period, amount and related entry in vouchers and ledgers; a new close does not overwrite a posted historical voucher.

Handle other period-end work in its own module

Payroll accrual, depreciation and inventory costing are reviewed and recorded in their own modules. Period close transfers profit and loss balances; it does not replace those business calculations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do monthly and annual close use separate workflows?

No. Both use the same entry point. Select the period and process the current account balance.

Will another close repeat an amount already transferred?

The amount is calculated from the remaining balance. No close voucher is generated when nothing remains to transfer.

How is the close amount determined?

The system calculates it from the actual remaining balance in the selected period and account set; it does not guess or fill in balances.

What if I record a transaction after an earlier close?

Record the business activity through its accounting workflow, then use the same entry point to process the actual remaining difference. Posted vouchers are not overwritten.

Will a voucher be created if there is no balance left?

No. The system does not create another close voucher when the selected period has no remaining amount to transfer.

Are depreciation and inventory costs calculated here?

No. Review and record depreciation, inventory cost and payroll accrual in their own modules. Period close handles monthly profit and loss and annual profit transfers.
